It installs as a floating floor over an underlayment, which allows for a relatively quick install compared to some hard flooring materials.
Unlike vinyl, laminate isn't built to handle standing water, so it's usually reserved for drier living spaces rather than bathrooms or laundry rooms. That distinction matters for shore homes especially, where the temptation is to use one material throughout — matching laminate in the main living areas with a more water-tolerant material in wet zones tends to hold up better over time.
